Unisoc T9300 brings 200MP cameras and satellite comms to mid-range 5G phones

Unisoc just raised the bar for mid-range mobile chips. The newly announced T9300 is a 6nm 5G SoC packed with features once reserved for flagship-tier hardware including 200MP camera support, satellite communication, and 144Hz displays. Designed to succeed the T8300, this chip could bring serious hardware upgrades to phones without flagship prices.

At its core, the T9300 runs an octa-core setup with a Cortex-A78 prime core clocked at 2.4GHz, paired with Cortex-A55 cores for efficiency. Backed by a dual-core Mali-G57 GPU, it supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, offering a modest step up in performance.

Unisoc claims the chip is 38% more energy efficient than its predecessor. On AnTuTu V10, it reportedly scores around 550,000, slightly ahead of the T8300’s average 515,000.

Where the T9300 really shines is in imaging. Thanks to a quad-core ISP and Unisoc’s 7th-gen Vivimagic image engine, the chip supports:

The T9300 isn’t just about cameras and speed. It also supports 3GPP R17 NR NTN satellite communication, letting phones connect to satellites without relying on traditional towers. That means emergency messaging or off-grid contact could come to mid-range phones.

On the display front, the T9300 supports FHD+ at 144Hz or 1.5K at 90Hz, with HDR10+ playback, VRR, and multiple eye comfort modes. For media fans, there’s HiFi audio support and Unisoc’s Miracle Gaming engine, which should improve responsiveness in fast-paced games.

The Unisoc T9300 may not break benchmark records, but it’s aiming for real-world impact blending flagship-style imaging, next-gen connectivity, and power efficiency into affordable devices. With Android 16 support out of the box and hardware usually reserved for $800 phones, expect the next wave of mid-range 5G phones to punch well above their price point.
